Intellectual Ventures has been actively inventing since August 2003. The company has filed thousands of patent applications in more than 50 technology areas and has thousands of ideas under consideration. The first patents were issued in November 2005, and Intellectual Ventures currently ranks in the top 50 among companies who file patents worldwide.
Intellectual Ventures’ inventions span a broad range of areas, including computer software and hardware, user interface design, semiconductors, biomedical devices, advanced medical procedures, digital imaging, nanotechnology, nuclear energy, and advanced particle physics. We are currently pursuing invention partnerships in a variety of business development areas including energy and climate change, medical technologies, and information and computing technologies.
The internal staff includes patent experts, software engineers, physicists, biotechnologists, geologists, nuclear experts, programmers, and mathematicians. Since 2003, Intellectual Ventures has been working with senior inventors from around the world. Today, Intellectual Ventures has 120 senior inventors that work with us part-time. Intellectual Ventures Laboratory
In May 2009, the company officially launched the Intellectual Ventures Laboratory, a 27,500-square-foot (2,555-square-meters) facility in Bellevue, Washington, filled with advanced electronics, photonics, and biochemistry equipment. The laboratory augments worldwide partnerships and offices by extending capabilities for advanced research and prototyping.
